2. The country’s third-largest private lender Axis Bank has signed MOU with the Indian Army offering a defence service salary package under its “Power Salute” initiative.

3. The Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence for the manufacture and supply of Akash missiles to the Indian Air Force (IAF). The total worth of the deal is around Rs 499 crore.

4. A new book titled “The Light of Asia” authored by Jairam Ramesh is a biography of an epic bio-poem on the Buddha.

5. A passenger train Rajdhani Express from Assam’s Silchar railway station has reached the Vaingaichunpao railway station in Manipur for a trial run, putting the state on the Indian Railways map. The train covered the distance of 11 km between the two northeastern stations, with railway officials onboard.

6. The European Space Agency (ESA) is set to hire and launch the world’s 1st physically disabled astronaut. The 22-member space programme has just closed its latest decennial recruitment call for astronauts and received more than 22,000 applicants. ESA will give a message to the world that ‘Space is for everyone.

7. Private sector Federal Bank on July 9, 2021, got its approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to re-appoint Shyam Srinivasan as its Managing Director (MD) and CEO for three years.

8. The Reserve Bank of India gave its approval on July 9, 2021, for the re-appointment of Shyam Srinivasan as the MD and CEO of the Federal bank for three years with effect from September 23, 2021, till September 23, 2024.

9. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has established a 25 member Development Council for Cement Industry (DCCI) headed by Dalmia Bharat Group CMD Puneet Dalmia.

10. According to Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India Industrial Land Bank will achieve pan-India integration by December 2021. Key Points India Industrial Land Bank system (IILB) has been integrated with industry-based GIS systems of 17 states.

11. American Space Agency, NASA’s ICESat-2 discovered Antarctic Meltwater Lakes recently.

12. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank virtually launched the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy - NIPUN Bharat.

13. AYUSH Minister Kiren Rijiju launched Ayurveda dataset on The Clinical Trials Registry- India CTRI Portal.

14. The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) announced to appoint industry veteran K Krishna Moorthy as President and CEO.

15. Football Delhi will launch the '37 Plus League', involving retired players, from August 3 this year to mark the 37th birthday of Indian team striker Sunil Chhetri.
